Do you accept my insurance?

Managed care companies were created to “manage” and contain escalating health care costs. Their bottom line is to reduce costs and raise profits; it is not to increase the quality of care professionals provide or your quality of life.

Managed care companies often choose to limit what services are offered, can restrict what is discussed in session, and may decide which clients can be seen and for how long.

Typically, only those services deemed medically necessary, which is defined as being literally about life and death and the treatment of illness, are covered. This means that they require a diagnosis of mental illness. This diagnosis remains on your record.

KMH is solution-focused on quality of life and personal goals.

Our work focuses on prevention, exploration, and personal growth rather than simply survival. Therefore, we have chosen to remain a concierge practice. This means that you pay out of pocket for our services and we provide you with the necessary paperwork (a “superbill”) to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement if you so choose to.

Be aware that should you choose to submit a superbill, you are releasing medical information that is protected by law. This means you are waiving some of your rights to privacy and confidentiality.

How do I schedule an appointment?

There are a few different ways to schedule an appointment. Please choose the most convenient option for you. If you are a new client, you may schedule your consultation or your initial appointment by visiting the contact page and filling out the short form; or outreaching by calling our office and speaking directly to our client care coordinator. If you are an existing client, please outreach to your provider either by telephone, email, or via the client portal secure messaging system. You may also use the client portal to schedule a new appointment or reschedule an existing appointment. Note: Outreaches are returned within 24 hours, during our office hours, via telephone and/or email.

Counseling, online therapy, and holistic mental health care at Kellen Mental Health begin with an easy three-step intake designed to respect your time and privacy.

1. Reach Out – Visit our contact page, pick your preferred location, and complete the short “Get in Touch” form or give us a call. Let us know the concerns you’d like to address—anxiety and stress management, depression counseling, couples and marriage counseling, ADHD coaching, postpartum support, LGBTQ+ affirming counseling, or any of our other services.

2. Personalized Matchmaking – Within one business day, our client-care coordinator will call or email you. Together, you’ll review scheduling needs, fees, and treatment goals. We then hand-select a therapist, coach, or integrative psychiatry provider whose expertise and approach align with your objectives, whether you prefer in-person sessions or secure virtual counseling.

3. Confirm Your Appointment – Reserve your first 45-, 60-, or 90-minute session. You’ll receive an email with intake paperwork and a private telehealth link if meeting online.

From the first call to the moment you sit down with your clinician, our process is confidential, client-centered, and built to help you start healing—sooner rather than later.

What forms of payment do you accept? Can I use my HSA/FSA card?

Accepted Answer

Cash, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), and health savings (HSA) or flex spending account (FSA) cards that have a major credit card logo on it are all accepted forms of payment.

At Kellen Mental Health, we keep billing simple so you can focus on healing. We are a private-pay counseling and integrative psychiatry practice providing holistic mental health care, which means we do not bill insurance companies directly. Instead, our client care coordinator collects credit card information when scheduling and the card is processed at the end of session. You may pay in whatever way feels easiest: cash, any major credit or debit card, or an HSA/FSA card that functions like a credit card. If your health-benefit card has a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express symbol, our secure processor will accept it in-office or through the online client portal used for virtual counseling.

Many clients choose to use pre-tax HSA or FSA funds because mental-health services such as anxiety and stress management, depression counseling, ADHD coaching, and trauma therapy are generally eligible expenses under current IRS guidelines.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

If you need to cancel or change your appointment, we ask you to inform your provider at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session start time. Your full session fee will be charged for missed appointments and cancellations received less than 24 hours in advance.
