Neurocognitive Testing for ADHD

Neurocognitive testing is a set of standardized, objective assessments designed to measure various aspects of cognitive function, including attention, memory, processing speed, executive functioning, and problem-solving abilities. These tests provide quantitative data about a person’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, making them particularly valuable for diagnosing and managing conditions like ADHD. Results can guide personalized treatment approaches, including behavioral strategies and therapy.

What Affects the Cost of Therapy?

Several factors influence your per-session rate at Kellen Mental Health. Understanding these can help you plan for care and choose the services that best fit your needs and budget.

Session length. Longer sessions cost more because they allow for deeper, more sustained work. For individual counseling, you can choose between 45- and 60-minute sessions. For couples and marriage counseling, 60- and 90-minute options are available. Your clinician can help you determine which length is the best fit for your goals.

Type of service. Counseling, coaching, neurocognitive testing, and wellness activities each have different pricing structures. The rates listed on this page reflect the current cost for each service category.

Session frequency. Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions and space them out as they progress. Your total investment in therapy depends on how frequently you meet and how long you continue, which is something you and your clinician will discuss together as treatment evolves.

What’s Included in Your Session

Every therapy or counseling session at Kellen Mental Health includes more than just the time you spend talking with your clinician. Your session fee covers the full scope of clinical care associated with your appointment, including preparation, documentation, treatment planning, and follow-up coordination when needed.

Sessions are conducted either in person at our Alpharetta office or via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform for virtual counseling. Both formats are available at the same rate.

For your first appointment, we recommend a 60-minute session so your clinician has enough time to get to know you, understand your concerns, and begin building a plan together. The best way to determine whether a clinician is the right fit for you is to meet for at least one to two full sessions. This gives both of you a real sense of the working relationship and whether the therapeutic approach aligns with your needs.

Payment, HSA/FSA, and Insurance Information

Accepted forms of payment. We accept cash, all major credit cards, and health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) cards that carry a major credit card logo.

We do not accept insurance. Kellen Mental Health is a private-pay practice. We made this choice intentionally so that your treatment is guided by what you actually need, not by what a managed care company approves. This means there are no prior authorizations, no session limits, and no third party determining your plan of care. Your clinician works directly with you to set goals and decide the pace of treatment.

Using HSA or FSA funds. Therapy and counseling services are typically eligible expenses under most HSA and FSA plans. If you have one of these accounts, you can use it to pay for sessions directly. We recommend checking with your plan administrator to confirm eligibility for the specific services you’re interested in.

Out-of-network reimbursement (superbills). While we do not bill insurance directly, we can provide you with a superbill after each session. A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim, including the date of service, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and fees. You submit the superbill to your insurance provider, and they reimburse you according to your plan’s out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan, so we recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we ask that you notify your clinician at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session time. Your full session fee will be charged for missed appointments and cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice.

We understand that life happens. This policy exists to respect your clinician’s time and to keep appointment availability open for all clients. If you’re running into scheduling conflicts, talk to your clinician about adjusting your regular appointment time.
