LGBTQIA Affirming Mental Health Care in Brookhaven, GA

One of the most important parts of mental health care is feeling like your therapist understands and affirms your identity. If you are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, that includes feeling affirmed in your gender identity and sexual orientation.

You may not feel comfortable discussing these parts of yourself with a therapist who is not familiar with the unique experiences that come with being a member of this community. This is why it can be so beneficial to seek out an LGBTQ therapist in Brookhaven, Georgia.

Our practitioners have specialized training in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and can provide you with the supportive, understanding care that you need. If you are ready to take the first step toward mental wellness, reach out to an LGBTQ therapist today.

Brookhaven LGBTQ Therapist

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences a mental illness. Despite the high prevalence of mental illness, there is still a lot of stigma surrounding seeking treatment. For members of the LGBTQ+ community, this stigma can be even greater. Too often, these individuals are forced to navigate the world without support or understanding.

At Kellen Mental Health, we are committed to creating a safe and affirming environment for everyone who comes through our doors. Our Brookhaven LGBTQ therapist has the training and experience necessary to provide you with high-quality mental health care.

We will work with you to explore the unique challenges that come with being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and help you develop healthy coping mechanisms. If you are ready to take control of your mental health, contact us today.

What is an LGBTQ Therapist and Why do They Matter?

It can be difficult for people who identify as LGBTQIA+ to find a therapist who affirms their identity. This is because many therapists receive little to no training on working with non-heterosexual and cis-gender individuals. As a result, they may be uninformed about the unique challenges that come with being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

An LGBTQ therapist, on the other hand, has specialized education in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. This means that they are better equipped to understand and support you through the challenges that you may face. If you are seeking a therapist who will affirm your identity and provide you with the supportive care that you need, consider meeting with an LGBTQ therapist, like those at KMH.

Taking the first step on the road to recovery can be a daunting task. But you don’t have to do it alone. At our practice, we work with individuals from all walks of life who are struggling with mental illness. We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, which is why we will create a personalized plan for you.

We believe in the interconnectedness of the body, mind, spirit, and environment, and we will draw from many modalities to help you achieve the mental wellness that you deserve. If you are ready to start your journey to recovery, reach out to us today. We are here for you.
