ADHD Psychiatrist Atlanta: Expert Care for Managing ADHD

Meet Your ADHD Specialists

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a condition that doesn’t just affect children; about 2% of adults also live with its challenges. ADHD makes it hard to maintain focus and control impulses, affecting every part of life, from work to personal relationships.

ADHD manifests in three primary subtypes: inattentive, hyperactive/impulsive, and combined, each with its own set of symptoms. Those with the inattentive type might struggle with focusing and be easily sidetracked, while individuals with the hyperactive or impulsive type may find it difficult to sit still or wait their turn.

Diagnosing ADHD involves a thorough evaluation by a skilled mental health professional, as there’s no single test for it. It’s crucial to get a comprehensive assessment from a trained professional, like those at HWP, to ensure the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

Atlanta Psychiatrist: ADHD Symptoms and Diagnosis

Identifying symptoms of ADHD in adults involves recognizing a range of indicators, from forgetfulness to difficulty managing time. An experienced Atlanta psychiatrist plays a crucial role in this process, utilizing detailed interviews and screening tools to fully understand your experiences.

There are many misconceptions about ADHD, which can lead to both overdiagnosis and underdiagnosis. Proper diagnosis is essential, as untreated ADHD can significantly impact mental health, potentially leading to issues like depression or anxiety

A skilled psychiatrist in Atlanta is adept at navigating these challenges, ensuring an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan that addresses the unique symptoms of ADHD you’re experiencing.

Coping Mechanisms and Non-Medication Strategies for ADHD

Managing ADHD isn’t solely about medication. Lifestyle changes can significantly impact symptoms. A diet low in sugars and processed foods, for example, can help reduce brain fog, while incorporating healthy fats and proteins supports neurotransmitter function.

Sleep and exercise are also crucial for managing ADHD. Adequate rest and regular physical activity can improve focus and reduce symptoms. Techniques to calm the nervous system, like deep breathing or yoga, are beneficial for those with ADHD, helping to decrease anxiety and improve concentration.

While certain types of medication are an effective treatment for many, it’s not the only solution. We advocate for a balanced approach, considering both medication and lifestyle adjustments to create a personalized care plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.

By understanding ADHD and exploring a range of treatment options, including lifestyle adjustments and strategic use of medication, individuals can find effective strategies for managing symptoms and improving their quality of life.

Integrative Psychiatric Evaluation

Evaluations last 60 minutes and can be conducted in person or via video. During this time, we gather detailed medical and symptom histories, discuss treatment goals, and develop a personalized plan. This plan may include tests such as routine or functional blood work, a supplement protocol, nutritional guidance, lifestyle changes, and standard prescriptions.

$335

Rate does not include the cost of bloodwork, recommended testing through third-party companies (e.g. neuroendocrine and pharmacogenetic testing), or supplements/medication.

Psychiatric Follow-up

Follow-up visits are 30 minutes long and can be conducted in person or via video. These visits are typically scheduled two weeks after the initial evaluation to review test results, develop a supplement or medication plan if one has not been started, and assess any side effects from new medications.

After the first follow-up, subsequent visits are scheduled every 1-3 months for clients who have started medication and require refills or adjustments.

$155 per visit

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept my insurance?

HWP does not accept insurance. Managed care companies were created to “manage” and contain escalating health care costs. HWP is solution-focused on quality of life and personal goals.
