What is Holistic Therapy?

Our providers at HWP know that mental health goes much deeper than just the mind. In fact, the mind, body, spirit, and environment are all deeply connected and a disturbance in one area can throw off the balance for all of these aspects of your life. This understanding is why our holistic approach to talk therapy focuses on you as a whole being.

How Does Holistic Therapy Help?

To get a better understanding of your mental health you must first understand how your mind, body, spirit, and environment coexist to create your reality. During holistic therapy sessions, your holistic therapist will guide you through the process of discovering areas of your life that you might not realize are affecting your mental wellbeing.

After you have an understanding of how the different areas of your life are interacting, your holistic counselor can help you realize what changes you might need to make to achieve better mental health or overcome your current struggle.

Maybe you have chronic pain and that long-term struggle has slowly worn down your mental health over several years. Addressing the cause of the pain can make your body feel better and, in turn, greatly improve your mental health.

Maybe you used to be very adventurous in college but once you graduated you settled down and have been working the same career for the last 20 years. Your job is a good job, so you’re not sure why you have been feeling down lately. A new environment may help you, whether that means rearranging your office, joining a new company, or taking an adventurous vacation for a week or two.
